Police: 2 dead after violent night in DC

WASHINGTON - A violent night in the District has left two people dead and one person hospitalized following a double shooting and a stabbing.

The turbulent evening began just before 10 p.m. Monday on the 800 block of Oglethorpe Street in the northeast where police say two men were shot. Both were hospitalized and one later died. The second victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Around 11:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of a man stabbed in the 2100 block of 14th Street. The man was unconscious and not breathing when officers arrived. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital. Investigators believe the victim was stabbed in the 2300 block of Green Street and made his way to the 14th Street address.

Investigators do not believe the two incidents are connected. Anyone with information about either of the incident is asked to call police at 202-645-9600.
