Park Police ID homeless pair killed in James Monroe Park crash in July

U.S. Park Police have released the identities of two homeless men who were stuck and killed by a vehicle in James Monroe Park in July.

According to police, they made “exhaustive efforts” to find the victims’ family members – and that the process was complicated by their homeless status.

Investigators say a vehicle entered the park around 11:30 p.m. on July 10, striking and killing 42-year-old Thomas Dwight and 63-year-old Jesus Antonio Llanes-Datil.

Police are still investigating the crash, and waiting on toxicology results.

The driver has not been identified.
