NYPD searching for Times Square gunman
NEW YORK (FOX5NY) - Police in New York City are hunting for a man who gunned down another man on 7th Avenue in the heart of Times Square.
It happened just before 4 a.m. outside of the Tonic bar and Lace strip club between 48th and 49th Streets on 7th Avenue. After a 911 call, rescue personnel found the 27-year-old victim with a gunshot wound to the head. He was rushed to Bellevue Hospital but it was too late to save him.
A witness told Fox 5 News that she saw a woman holding the victim after the shooting.
"A lot of panic, obviously, people just didn't know what to do... a lot of crying," the unidentified witness said.
The shooter ran from the scene after the violence. He is described as a Hispanic man, about 5 feet 9 inches tall, with a thin build. He was wearing a black jacket and a black skull cap and was last seen running north on 7th Avenue.
It was unclear what led up to the shooting. It happened right after "last call" at Tonic, a popular nightclub.
The identity of the victim had not been released.
