NC authorities organizing search party for 3-year-old missing girl

A search party is being organized as authorities and volunteers continue to search for a 3-year-old missing girl from Jacksonville, North Carolina.

Mariah Woods hasn't been seen by her family since Sunday, November 26. She was reported missing around 9:00 a.m. on Monday.

The Onslow County Sheriff's Office and 'Team Adam' with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children are organizing a search that will take place between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. on Friday. Volunteers will need to come to the the Dawson Community Church located at 2311 Dawson Cabin Road.

Volunteers also need to bring official identification, water, food and wear appropriate clothing as safety is a priority, according to the Sheriff's Office. Volunteers should be prepared to walk anywhere from four to six hours in rough terrain with vines and thorny bushes.

The Sheriff's Office plans to break people up into groups with a team leader who will walk them in a straight line, no more than 10 feet apart.

The Sheriff's Office added that experts at the FBI lab in Quantico are testing items of interest that could help lead to Mariah, and they also plan to speak with every individual who lives in the neighborhood she disappeared from.

Volunteers will receive more information on the search Friday morning. To learn more, or volunteer for the search party, you can contact the Onslow County Sheriff's Office at (910) 989-4055 or (910) 989-4070, or via Facebook.
