Mutilated body of man discovered dead with hand cut off near Chain Bridge in Northwest DC

WASHINGTON - Police are investigating a gruesome discovery after the mutilated body of a man was found under the Chain Bridge in Northwest, D.C. over the weekend.

The man's body was discovered around 7:30 p.m. in a wooded area along the banks of the Potomac River not too far from trails popular with joggers, walkers and bicyclists.

The man suffered trauma to the torso and to both hands. Officials say one of the victim's hands had been cut off.

Authorities have not identified the victim and have released no information regarding a motive or a suspect. Anyone with information is asked to contact police. A reward of up to $25,000 us being offered in the case.
