Montgomery County teen charged as an adult for allegedly having a gun on school property

A Montgomery County teen will be charged as an adult after an unloaded gun was allegedly found in his gym bag on school grounds on Tuesday.

Solomon Henderson, 17, of Silver Spring is charged with possession of a handgun on school property, possession of a firearm by a person under 21-years-old, and possession of a handgun.

According to Montgomery Police, staff at Springbrook High School learned that Henderson had a gun around 10:30 a.m., and a School Resource Officer was notified.

In addition to the unloaded weapon, police say Henderson had an unloaded magazine.

Bond information was not available when police released information about the arrest.

Police have not determined whether Henderson had any intention to harm students of staff.

They say the gun was owned by Henderson's father.
