Montgomery County Swift Water Rescue Team prepares to deploy to Texas

The Montgomery County Swift Water Rescue Team is preparing to deploy to Texas Sunday to aid rescue efforts following Hurricane Harvey.

Maryland Task Force 1, or MD-TF1, is one of the 28 FEMA search and rescue teams across the country. More than half of these teams have already been sent to Texas.

"There have been maybe 14 or 15 teams from the surrounding states deployed already. This is unprecendeted." Montgomery County Fire and Rescue spokesperson Pete Piringer continued, "We are going to send down a very robust team and equipment. Typically we are self-sufficient for 10 to 14 days. That means food, supplies, and all that go along with the team."

The team's bags are already packed so they are ready to go as soon as they receive the order.
