Montgomery County crash involving bus kills 1, injures multiple people, officials say

ROCKVILLE, Md. - A crash involving a RideOn bus in Montgomery County killed one person and sent multiple people to the hospital Thursday evening, according to officials.

Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Service said the crash happened on Norbeck Road near Avery Road.

Investigators said Friday that the RideOn bus was stopped on Norbeck Road when the driver of a Honda Element, who has been identified as 49-year-old Dumas Kantar of Rockville rear-ended the bus. Kantar was later pronounced dead at Suburban Hospital.

Montgomery County police say the driver of the bus, 57-year-old Rosa Maria Rodriguez, and three passengers were taken to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.
