Mira Sorvino, childhood friend 'stampede' to raise awareness for Metastatic breast cancer
Mira Sorvino and her best friend Champagne Joy have known each other since the age of 14.
Today, Mira is helping her life-long friend 'stampede' in her battle against Metastatic breast cancer.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Metastatic breast cancer is one of the most advanced forms known. It is a type of breast cancer that spreads beyond the breast to other organs in the body.
"I can't say how proud I am of Champagne - she's the bravest person I know," Sorvino told FOX 5's Annie Yu.
Sorvino, Joy and dozens of others started their 'stampede' for awareness from the Washington Monument to the U.S. Capitol at around 8:30 a.m. The 'Stage IV Stampede' was also supported by METAvivor, a non-profit organization dedicated to increasing awareness of advanced breast cancer.
