ALDIE MILL HISTORIC PARK: This 200-year-old merchant mill was used to produce corn mill and flour. It also ran one of the first successful production line systems in the U.S. Visitors can take a guided tour and watch live grinding demonstrations.
MOUNT DEFIANCE CIDERY AND DISTILLERY: Located in the middle of the Winery Trail, this family owned small distillery offers a wide range of spirits. tastings are always available by the glass, bottle or growler.
THE NATIONAL SPORTING LIBRARY AND MUSEUM: This museum is dedicated to preserving, promoting and sharing the literature, art and culture of equestrian, angling and field sports. Founded in 1954 this research facility and art museum features more than 26,000 books and works of art, sculptures, paintings and historic manuscripts dating back to 1523.
BOXWOOD WINERY: From vine to glass, this modern tasting room and vineyard opened in 2003 and is the brain-child of former Washington Redskins owner John Kent Cooke. It sits on 27 acres of land which was home to one of the earliest horse farms in Middleburg. Visitors can escape the city to take a tour, enjoy a flight or volunteer during harvest season.
THE SALAMANDER RESORT AND SPA: This highly acclaimed luxury hotel is owned by former bet co-founder Shelia Johnson. There are lots of things to do in this home and away from home, from an outdoor courtyard with pool, to a luxurious spa and even three farm to table restaurants among many other amenities.
