Mexican woman accuses Mexican restaurant of writing racist message on check

A Mexican woman is accusing a Mexican restaurant of writing a racist message on her receipt.

Beatriz Castorena claims she and her family went to eat at the El Valle Mexican Restaurant in Denver Friday when she received her check with the words, 'You F****** Mexicans,' printed on it.

Her family was so upset that they posted a copy of the receipt on social media. The restaurant received hundreds of comments online, some of them calling the Mexican restaurant racist.

But the restaurant owner's son denies the racist claims saying that the waitress jokingly typed that message for the cook.

"So she looked at it and she said, 'Oh. Ha! How funny," Castorena said of the waitress.

"Funny? That's not funny. That's not funny at all," Castorena continued.

"No way was it intended for them or to them or no way reflect what we believe because obviously we are all Mexican or we are Mexico born," said Oscar Rivera, the restaurant owner's son.

"She's Mexican, I'm Mexican. She shouldn't have wrote that. She could have apologized. She said it was meant for the cook. I don't care. It was on my check," Castorena said.

Castorena got an apology, her money back, and the restaurant has told its staff never to do something like this again.

As for the waitress in question, the owners say she quit her job out of embarrassment.
