Metro riders deal with first workday commute during project that closes 6 Blue, Yellow line stations

Metro riders are experiencing their first workday commute during the summer platform project that will keep six Blue and Yellow line stations closed through the summer months and past Labor Day.

The platform reconstruction and infrastructure improvements will impact the following stations:

- Braddock Rd
- King St-Old Town
- Eisenhower Ave
- Huntington
- Van Dorn St
- Franconia-Springfield

The stations are all south of Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport and will all remain closed through September 8.

Metro will provide free shuttle service at all six of the closed stations. Water taxi and trolley service are among the alternative travel options the transit systems recommends using during the project.

The project is part of Metro's three-year platform improvement project that will reconstruct outdoor platforms at 20 Metrorail stations.
