Massive fire rips through Potomac home

POTOMAC, Md. - A massive fire ripped through a large, single-family home in Potomac, Md. on Monday afternoon, according to officials. The fire caused over a million dollars in damages, according to officials.

The fire required 65 firefighters to rush to the scene, according to Pete Piringer, chief spokesperson for Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service.

The two-story home near the intersection of Gorky Drive and Maidens Bower Drive was "fully-involved" in flames, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) spokesperson Pete Piringer and most of the fire had been put out by 2:45 p.m. Piringer said the family that lives at the house has been accounted for. Several pets that lived in the family home have not been accounted for.

Firefighters were called to the home at about 2 p.m. Monday Piringer said the home is in an area without access to a fire hydrant.
