Manassas could allow drinking in public

MANASSAS, Va. (FOX 5 DC) - Could Manassas' Main Street be the new Bourbon Street?

Drinking in public could soon be a thing in the historic Virginia town.

Local restaurants and watering holes downtown are applying for licenses to allow people to bar hop with liquor in hand.

Customers would have to remain in the downtown Manassas area, but would be free to roam between bars and restaurants.

August 1 is reportedly the earliest Manassas could get an answer from the Commonwealth's Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control.

The next step would be approval from the Manassas City Council.
