Man turns self in for attempted rape in Montgomery Village
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. - Montgomery County police have arrested a man accused of sexually assaulting a woman in Montgomery Village.
Police have charged 40-year-old Christian Sarria with attempted second-degree rape.
The assault happened just before 9 p.m. on October 8 at a residence on Drexel Hill Circle.
Authorities say a 46-year-old woman parked her car in the neighborhood and was walking home when she noticed a man following her. As the victim opened her front door, the suspect approached her from behind and sexually assaulted her.
The woman screamed for the suspect to stop, according to police. Her brother, who was inside the home, came to the door, and the suspect ran away.
Police released a series of surveillance photos of the suspect on Thursday. Later that night, Sarria walked into a police station and turned himself in after seeing his picture on the news.
