Man stabbed to death outside Addison Road Metro station; suspect arrested
CAPITOL HEIGHTS, Md. - A man was fatally stabbed during a verbal altercation with another person outside of the Addison Road-Seat Pleasant Metro station Wednesday night.
Metro said the adult suspect stabbed the victim with a folding knife in the chest at around 7:15 p.m. at the bus bay located outside of the station. The victim died at the scene. The suspect was arrested and a weapon was recovered.
The suspect and the victim knew each other and the stabbing is not believed to be random, according to Metro Transit Police. No one else is believed to be involved in the incident.
The Metro station remained open and train service was not affected. Metrobuses were diverted in the parking lot and bus passengers were picked up outside of the bus bay while police were investigating the scene.
Earlier in the day at around 4:20 p.m., a person crossing the street outside of this Metro station at Central Avenue and Addison Road was struck and killed by a vehicle. The driver of the vehicle did stay at the scene. Authorities do not believe the two incidents are related.
