Man shot police cruiser during standoff in Alleghany County, authorities say
IRON GATE, Va. (FOX 5 DC) - A man has been arrested and charged after authorities say he shot a police cruiser Wednesday night in Alleghany County, Virginia.
Officers say they received a call for shots fired around 9:30 a.m. near Commerce Avenue and 8th Street in the Iron Gate area.
Police say when they arrived shots were fired from inside a home that struck one of their cruisers. Officers say they made contact with a man inside, identified as 59-year-old Marshall Dale Meadows, and were able to talk him out of the residence around midnight.
Meadows was charged with attempted capital murder of a police officer. Police say other charges are pending. Officials say no officers discharged their weapons during the incident.
The investigation is continuing at this time.
