Man shot outside of George Washington University Hospital
WASHINGTON - D.C. police say a shooting took place outside of George Washington University Hospital Tuesday night.
According to police, a man was shot at around 7:47 p.m. outside of the main entrance of the hospital on 23rd Street in Northwest D.C. After being wounded, the victim walked into the hospital and was conscious and breathing.
"This evening, there was an incident on 23rd Street on public property," George Washington University Hospital said in a statement. "GW Hospital took immediate measures to ensure the safety of our patients, visitors and employees. The hospital was briefly placed on lockdown and has now returned to normal operations."
Police are on the lookout for a black male standing about 5'8" and around 29 or 30 years old. Police say he was wearing a black sweater with a vest and blue jeans and was last seen running towards Washington Circle.
