Man shot in parking lot of Iverson Mall in Temple Hills; suspect at large

Officials are still searching for a suspect after a man was shot several times in the stomach in the parking lot of Iverson Mall in Temple Hills, Md. Tuesday afternoon.

The victim was transported to an area trauma center with non-life-threatening injuries, according to officials. The shooting does not appear to be random, according to officials.

Neighbors who live near the mall say described what they heard at the time of the shooting.

"I heard what sounded like a gunshot! I heard a big firing, probably two minutes before the next two shots I heard and then after that there was a crash. I didn't see anything, but I heard it," recalled Walt James, a neighbor to the mall.

Several nearby schools including Hillcrest Heights Elementary School, Jessie B. Mason Special Center and Panorama Elementary were placed on lockdown shortly after the shooting was reported, but those lockdowns were later lifted.
