Man shot after answering door in Silver Spring
SILVER SPRING, Md. - A man was shot after answering the door to his Silver Spring home, and the suspects are on the loose.
At 7 p.m. Thursday, a man and his 8-year-old son were inside their home in the 9500 block of Clement Road when police say two men came to the front door and got into a confrontation with the victim. One of the men shot him, and the two suspects ran away.
Police received three 911 calls about the shooting, including one from the 47-year-old victim. He was taken to the hospital, and his condition was upgraded from serious to stable on Friday. The victim's son was not injured.
A neighbor who lives directly across the street said the victim is a massage therapist and fairly quiet.
"Seems like a regular, middle-class, nice guy. Says hi when I leave the house. Says nothing crazy," said neighbor Naomi Kates.
Investigators do not believe this was a random act and say there is no danger to the community. Police hope to learn more after they interview the victim.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call police at 240-773-5070.
