Man found dead inside car on I-295

WASHINGTON - The Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Unit was called to Interstate 295 at Benning Road in Northeast to investigate the death of a man found inside a car Wednesday night.

According to police, the victim was found suffering from a gunshot wound inside a blue Mercedes vehicle.

Police were also investigating a second crime scene on the ramp of I-295 near the River Terrace Education Campus on 34th Street.

Police say the northbound lanes of I-295 between Pennsylvania Avenue and Howard Road and the merger at East Capitol Street were closed to traffic Wednesday night.

Authorities are investigating this as a homicide. No suspect information has been released at this time.
