Man arrested for destruction of property inside DC convenience store

Police have arrested a Maryland man for trashing a Northwest D.C. convenience store last month that was caught on surveillance video by the store's security cameras.

Two men walked into the 77 Market convenience located on Georgia Avenue on June 27 after 5 a.m. looking to buy cigars. According to the store's owner, the men became upset because the clerk asked for identification.

A few minutes later, the men began throwing merchandise and turning over equipment and trash cans inside the store leaving a huge mess - estimated to be at least $12,000 in damage, according to the owner.

Police arrested 21-year-old Naol Ayano, of Takoma Park, Maryland, last Friday and charged him with felony destruction of property.
