D.C. police have announced an arrest in a shooting that wounded a 9-year-old boy in the head while he was playing at an apartment complex playground back in Oct. 2014.

Jaydan Stancil was shot along with two other men at the Mayfair Mansions apartments on Hayes Street in Northeast D.C.

Police said 27-year-old Kenneth Parker has been charged with assault with intent to kill and other related charges in connection to this shooting. He was already in jail on unrelated charges.

After the shooting, Stancil underwent plastic surgery and had to remain in the hospital for three months before he was released.

"I spoke to Jaydan's mom earlier this afternoon where she was on her way to the doctors with her son," said Lanier. "As you can imagine with such a serious injury, he still continues to have health problems because of that injury."
