Man accused of inappropriately touching 5-year-old girl at Rockville library arrested, police say

A man accused of inappropriately touching a 5-year-old girl at a library in Rockville has been taken into custody, according to officials.

Montgomery County police said 26-year-old Keelan Sternklar was arrested late Thursday evening after being accused of inappropriately touching the child at the Rockville Memorial Library on Saturday.

Sternklar is accused of pulling down the girl's pants and inappropriately touching her while she was in the children's section of the library, according to authorities.

Officials released photos of a person of interest and a Rockville City police officer reportedly spotted a man fitting the description inside a coffee shop about a block away from the library on Thursday.

Montgomery County police arrested Sternklar at a homeless shelter facility later that evening. During an interview with detectives, officials said Sternklar admitted that he was in the library during the time that the sexual offense occurred.

Sternklar has been charged with third-degree sexual offense and second-degree assault.
