Lakeforest Mall Sears location closing: report

GAITHERSBURG, Md. - The Sears location in Lakeforest Mall in Gaithersburg is one of nearly 100 stores the company is closing by the end of the year, according to USA Today.

The same article indicated that liquidation sales could begin as soon as mid-September.

Sears – once a titan of brick-and-mortar retail – has become a struggling brand in recent years.

The company announced dozens of closures shortly after Christmas 2018, and it has announced more than 100 since early August.

According to USA Today, the company had retained about 380 locations as of Aug. 7.
