Knock on door leads to threat at knifepoint in Silver Spring: police

SILVER SPRING, Md. - Authorities have released an image of the person they say threatened a Montgomery County apartment resident with a knife in the building’s stairwell.

Officers say it happened on October 12 around 1 p.m. in the apartment on the 14200 block of Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring.

Police say the victim saw the unknown person in the stairwell and asked if he had knocked on their apartment door. Investigators say the suspect pulled a knife and threatened the victim.

Detectives say the suspect is between 17 and 24 years old and was wearing jeans, a dark hooded sweatshirt, and Nike shoes.
