Kayaker dead after drowning in Monocacy River near Frederick

FREDERICK, Md. - A kayaker was pronounced dead after he drowned in the Monocacy River Thursday.

Emergency crews were called to the river near Legore Bridge Road, about 20 miles north of Frederick, around 10:30 a.m.

The man who died was part of a group of kayakers. No other injuries were reported.

The identity of the kayaker who died has not been released at this time.
