ISIS fighter with ties to Virginia arrested in Iraq

(AP) -- A Palestinian-American fighter for the Islamic State group has given himself up to Iraqi Kurdish forces battling militants in northern Iraq.

Though his U.S. citizenship is yet to be confirmed, the incident marks a rare instance of a voluntary surrender of an IS militant in Iraq.

A photograph said to be from the man's driving license shows he is from Alexandria, Virginia, and identifies him as 26-year-old Mohamad Jamal Khweis.
