In wake of massacre, Facebook offers users a way to show solidarity with Paris
People around the world are mourning alongside Paris after a series of attacks, now claimed by the Islamic State, left 127 dead and more than 200 injured on Friday.
Monuments around the world lit up in blue, white and red to show solidarity with France, and now Facebook is encouraging users to do the same.
The social media platform is offering users and opaque French flag filter to lay over their profile picture. A post appears on users' news feeds, suggesting they change their profile picture "to support France and the people of Paris."
Each post is accompanied by a "Try It" button that allows users to add the filter seamlessly.
This is not the first time Facebook has offered profile picture filters. In June, the platform offered an opaque rainbow filter that encouraged users to "celebrate pride" following the Supreme Court's same-sex marriage decision.
