Humane Rescue Alliance offers reward after dog is found in DC with deadly head injury

The Humane Rescue Alliance is offering a reward for anyone willing to help catch and convict a person who struck and killed a female dog with an axe - or a similarly sharp object.

The dog was brought to the HRA on Thursday with injuries that were so severe she needed to be euthanized.

They say the dog appeared to be an adult bullmastiff who weighed 80 to 100 pounds.

The dog was found in Southeast D.C. near the Southern Avenue Metro station.

A $5,000 reward has been offered for information leading to the identification, arrest, and conviction of the person responsible for the dog's injury.

If you can help investigators find the perpetrator, call (202) 723-5730, option 1.
