House partially collapses during heavy fire in Boyds

A house has partially collapsed after a heavy fire broke out in Montgomery County Thursday night.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue spokesperson Pete Piringer said the fire at the 2-story home in the 18300 block of Aspen Dale Court in Boyds has been knocked down.

A smoke alarm alerted five people inside the home and they all got out safely along with their pets. However, one firefighter did suffer a non-life-threatening injury while battling the fire.

The blaze also damaged four vehicles and a neighbor's house.

It is believed the fire started in the garage and extended to the first and second floor of the home. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
