Germantown man found guilty of attempted murder in apartment double stabbing
ROCKVILLE, Md. - A 26-year-old Montgomery County man was convicted for the stabbing of two acquaintances at an apartment in Germantown.
Da'Von Mobley was found guilty by a jury on several charges that included attempted second-degree murder, home invasion, first-degree burglary, auto theft and second-degree assault.
Montgomery County police were initially called to the Germantown apartment last October where Mobley was staying with a friend. Police say Mobley got into an argument with his friend and another woman in the apartment and was told to leave.
However, he later came back and forced his way into the home, and stabbed both the man and the women multiple times. Both victims suffered serious injuries, but did survive.
When police arrived, Mobley had taken off, stole a car and led officers on a chase before bailing out of the vehicle. Police found Mobley hiding behind a tree and quickly arrested him. The chase was captured on police body camera.
"His motivation really was that he was embarrassed that this young man slight of stature was really able to better him physically in a minor brawl," said Ramon Korionoff, spokesperson for the Montgomery County State's Attorney's Office. "But then he jumped off a balcony, stole a car, led police on a chase and then ran into the woods where K-9 units were able to surround him and subdue him."
Mobley faces up to 75 years in prison. He is scheduled for sentencing on November 17.
