Food delivery driver gunned down in DC while on scooter

The family of 22-year-old Ezell Hill is devastated after he was fatally shot while delivering food late Tuesday night in Northwest D.C.

The backstory:

Hill was riding an electric scooter on the 3100 block of 16th Street NW around midnight when someone opened fire, shooting him multiple times. His family says he died near the location where he was delivering food.

The young man’s family, still in shock, spoke exclusively to FOX 5’s Shomari Stone about the loss.

They're heartbroken, and struggling to understand why their loved one was killed. His brother, Kevohn McCormick, shared his disbelief.

"It’s unreal for a kid like him. He really doesn’t bother a soul. He is really passion-driven. He wanted to make sure he was doing something honest and could provide his own way," McCormick said.

Hill’s family revealed that he had plans to enroll in an IT job training program, a hopeful step in his life that was tragically cut short.

Police are actively investigating the shooting and are searching for a dark Toyota sedan which they believe is connected to the crime. 

The motive for the shooting remains unclear.
