Federal agencies open Wednesday; employees have option of unscheduled leave or unscheduled telework
WASHINGTON - Despite the announcement of the shutdown of Metrorail service for the entire day on Wednesday, federal agencies will remain open, the U.S. Office of Personnel Management said. However, employees will have the option for unscheduled leave or unscheduled telework.
Emergency employees are expected to report on time unless otherwise directed by their agencies.
Metro announced Tuesday that they will shut down rail service starting at midnight Wednesday for the inspection of 600 underground jumper cables after a cable fire caused disruptions on the Blue, Orange and Silver Lines on Monday. Metro says rail service will reopen at 5 a.m. Thursday.
