Fairfax Co police say Tuesday shootings were gang-related, investigating link to playground shooting

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (FOX 5 DC) -- Fairfax County police say a string of Tuesday afternoon shootings were likely gang related - and they're investigating potential links to a Monday night double shooting in the Hybla Valley area.

Five people were injured during both incidents - but police expect all of them to survive.

The second incident erupted when men in two different vehicles began firing guns at each other outside a music studio in the 6400 block of Telegraph Road in the county's Rose Hill neighborhood, police believe.

One of vehicles left the scene, traveling about two miles to James Drive in the county's Huntington section.

Police found one victim suffering from gunshot wounds on Telegraph Road, and two more on James Drive.

The other vehicle was located unoccupied overnight.

On Monday, police responded to a playground on Fordson Court in Hybla Valley, where they found two teens suffering from gunshot wounds.

There were no lookouts for the gunman, and it's unclear if he came on foot or by car.

Police do not believe the shootings were random.
