EXCLUSIVE: Police tow 3 vehicles from home of DC quadruple murder
Police were back at the home where a wealthy D.C. family and their housekeeper were murdered two weeks ago. FOX 5's Alexandra Limon was there as three vehicles were towed from the house while more evidence was taken from the homicide scene.
Savvas and Amy Savopoulos, their 10-year-old son Philip, and their housekeeper, Veralicia Figueroa, were found dead inside their Woodland Drive home in the Woodley Park neighborhood of Northwest D.C. after firefighters responded to a fire at the house on May 14.
Authorities arrested 34-year-old Daron Wint last week for the murders after a multi-state manhunt for him led a joint task force all the way up to as far as New York. It came to an end after Wint was located at a hotel parking lot in College Park, Maryland and he was eventually apprehended in D.C.
Court documents show police believe Wint was not acting alone and other people were involved in the killings.
Police say Wint once worked for Savvas Savopoulos at his company, American Iron Works.
FOX 5's Alexandra Limon witnessed police seizing a white Range Rover and a red Audi convertible parked in the home's driveway. A tan Land Rover parked on 32nd Street in front of the house was also taken away.
All of the vehicles are believed to belong to the Savopoulos.
Roscoe Howard, a former federal prosecutor, spoke to FOX 5 about why police may have towed the vehicles from the home now.
"Right now, from the information we have, we don't know if the other cars were attempted to be taken, but logic will tell you that somebody probably tried," he said. "So what you do is you go through the cars, make sure you're not missing anything, and again, they are just crossing T's and dotting I's to make sure they are going through every piece of equipment possible."
Investigators are being tight-lipped about the investigation and are not saying if the removal of these vehicles is standard procedure or if they had a specific reason to take away these vehicles.
