Ellicott City murder suspect caught in North Carolina, police say

An Ellicott City man who was wanted for allegedly shooting a man to death while they used drugs in a car parked behind a building on Montgomery Road is in custody after police tracked him down in Cumberland County, NC.

According to Howard County police, Rane Dellinger, 20, shot Jacob Mauer, 20, while they were in a vehicle together with one other unidentified friend. He then ran away from the scene.

Dellinger has been charged with first and second-degree murder, first and second-degree assault, use of a firearm in a felony, and illegal possession of a handgun.

Police are currently working to extradite Dellinger back to Maryland.
