Elderly man found dead in Alexandria; police investigating death as suspicious

ALEXANDRIA, Va. - Police are investigating a suspicious death after an 82-year-old man was found dead inside a home in Alexandria.

Alexandria police said emergency personnel responded to the house located on E. Reed Avenue at around 7:14 a.m. Monday. Officers found the victim, Jerry Scott, inside with trauma to the upper body. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police were seen spending a good amount of time investigating in the backyard of the home. In addition, a black BMW vehicle in the driveway and a blue Chevy truck out in front of the home were also searched.

Police said the victim was transported to the medical examiner's office for an autopsy.

There is no apparent threat to the public, according to police.
