Driver killed in overnight crash in DC

WASHINGTON - A head-on crash on a D.C. highway has left one driver dead and another injured. The accident happened around 11:30 p.m. Sunday on Interstate 295 between Malcolm X Avenue and Suitland Parkway.

The driver of one of the vehicles was killed at the scene. The driver of a second vehicle was hospitalized.

I-295 was closed in both directions while the crash was investigated. Both lanes of the highway reopened to traffic around 6 a.m.
