DC's homicide total for 2015 hits 101

There were two more deadly shootings early Saturday morning in the District, bringing the total number of homicides for 2015 to 101.

D.C. police responded to a call reporting the sound of gunshots just before 3 a.m. in the 1300 block of Stevens Road SE. They arrived to find a man who had been shot, but showed no signs of life. He was pronounced dead, and has been identified as 24-year-old Antonio Dean of southwest D.C.

Around the same time, officers were called to the 300 block of 54th Street NE because of a reported shooting. They arrived to find 26-year-old Kenneth Earl Watson, Jr. of northeast D.C. suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Autopsies for both victims are pending, and investigations into the two homicides are underway.
