DC International School 10th grader dies after collapsing during soccer game

A student at D.C. International School passed away after collapsing during a soccer game Tuesday night.

The school confirmed in a statement Wednesday that the boy, whose name has not yet been released, was a 10th grader.

The school said the boy was having trouble breathing at his soccer game, and his coach dialed 911. He was rushed to the hospital, where he suffered cardiac arrest.

"DCI administrators were with the family last night and are meeting with students this morning," the statement said. "The parent community has been notified. DCI's counselors and a team from the DC Department of Behavioral Health are onsite and available for any students who need support."
