Crews still working to repair washed out Belfast Road in Potomac

Crews are still working to repair a washed out roadway in Potomac that cut off access to about 70 homes on Monday as flooding pummeled the D.C. area.

Officials say the bridge on Belfast Road was washed away when floodwaters overwhelmed a drainage pipe under the roadway.

The Belfast Road washout wasn't an isolated incident in the DMV on Monday - flooding and heavy rains made travel difficult throughout the area, including D.C. proper, Fairfax County, and other communities in Montgomery County and beyond.

Emergency officials recorded dozens of water rescues throughout the area.
