Community and law enforcement join together for National Night Out

Residents, community leaders and law enforcement from around the country joined together for the 35th annual National Night Out.

Neighborhoods all over the nation and in the D.C. region held National Night Out events such as block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and other various community events Tuesday. In total, 38 million people across 16,000 communities were expected to take part in National Night Out.

National Night Out, which was first held in 1984, is used to promote safer neighborhood and crime prevention awareness along with improving relationships between the community and police.
