Chesapeake and Ohio Canal rescue: Woman injured during fall at C and O Canal

A woman was rescued after she was injured during a fall at the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal in Montgomery County on Monday, according to officials.

Crews responded to the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Park in Potomac, Maryland after receiving reports of a woman who fell down an embankment near Lock 15.

The woman suffered a dislocated shoulder and several other minor injuries after she fell down the embankment and into the water, according to officials.

Authorities said the woman was expected to be OK.

Witnesses told FOX 5 the area in which the woman fell is a popular path for bicycling and does not have barriers to keep people from falling into the water.
