Capital Pride rocks the streets of DC

Celebrations for Capital Pride 2016 kicked off Saturday morning with a Pride Parade that wound through the streets of the District.

The Pride Parade started at 22nd and P Streets in Northwest and continued 1.5 miles through the Dupont and Logan Circle neighborhoods.

Actor Leslie Jordan was the event's grand marshal and was accompanied by Orange is the New Black actress Laverne Cox and television personality Ross Mathews. Thousands of spectators turned out to watch the parade and support Washington's LGBT community.

The parade is just one of dozens of events taking place throughout the weekend. A Pride Festival, Pride Concert and closing party will all take place Sunday.
