Campers using startup to find eclipse viewing spots

DEMOREST, Ga. - With Monday's total solar eclipse just days away, hotel rooms, rental properties, and public campgrounds are just about all filled up. But there are some campsites in north Georgia that you might not be aware of, and that's where online startup Hipcamp comes in.

Hipcamp is a service that matches up people who want to go camping with those who have land upon which to camp. One of those landowners is Brooks Garcia, who owns 24 acres in Habersham County, and decided to put it up on Hipcamp as a way to share his incredible views with people looking for a unique getaway.

"The campers come, and rent a space on the property for a nominal fee, and they get to enjoy this magnificent piece of property and they're not in a public campground with 30, 50, however many other people," he says.

Garcia added two campsites due to demand from the solar eclipse and says as long as the weather cooperates, his campers will have an unobstructed view of the incredible event.
