Big Doug Classic will raise money for scholarships

GLENELG, MD - Doug Parker was a big man with a big heart.

If his kids' teams needed a coach, Doug would do it. In fact, he coached about 20 teams over the years.

If a child needed a ride to school or sporting event, Doug's "kid taxi" was always available.

Sadly, Doug passed away in 2008. But his legacy lives on with the Big Doug Classic.

The 8th annual classic is day long series of girls high school basketball games that will take place at Glenelg High School on Tuesday December 29.

Money raised from the event is managed through the Community Foundation of Howard County and will help a student attend college.
