Ashburn man wins $1 million in Powerball

An Ashburn man thought he had won $600. However, he just barely missed being $212 million richer.

When Tom Supp went to cash in his Powerball ticket for a drawing that took place on Dec. 9, the Virginia Lottery customer service center informed him that he had actually won $1 million after matching the first five numbers, but missing only the Powerball number.

"I couldn't speak after that," he told Virginia Lottery. "I was in disbelief."

According to Virginia Lottery, Supp bought his ticket at a 7-Eleven store on Ashburn Road in Ashburn where he let the computer randomly select his numbers on the ticket.

The communications contractor said he plans to put his winnings towards his retirement.
