Arcing insulator outside Medical Center causes Red Line delays

Service has been partially restored along a stretch of the Red Line that was affected by an arcing insulator.

Firefighters and Metro maintenance crews responded to a report of an arcing insulator from the Red Line tracks near the Medical Center station, according to Metro and the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service.

Firefighters arrived on the scene around 12:40 p.m. Monday, according to MCFRS spokesperson Pete Piringer.

Metro says trains are now sharing a track between Grosvenor and Friendship Heights. Riders, however, should expect ongoing delays.
