Another major quake strikes Nepal; Fairfax emergency crews in area safe

A major earthquake hit a remote region of Nepal on Tuesday, killing at least 19 people.

The quake triggered landslides and toppled buildings less than three weeks after the same area was ravaged by its worst quake in decades.

The U.S. Geological survey says the magnitude-7.3 quake struck near the Chinese border between the capital of Kathmandu and Mount Everest.

Nearly 1000 were injured by the quake which was felt as far away as the Indian capital of New Delhi.

Authorities are trying to calm panicked people who have flooded the streets of Kathmandu. There are several reports of building collapses and very strong aftershocks.

Members of the Fairfax County Urban Search and Rescue team are still in Nepal. They are safe following the quake are working to assist in search and rescue operations.
